...a little bit about Luca Siliquini

Ritratto per sito2.jpg

I am an Italian artist who was born and studied in Rome and now lives in Canberra.

My artwork can be divided into various periods:

Mid-80s – As I studied forms, colours and symbolism represented in Dali, Kandinsky, and Chagall’s artworks, I began painting for pleasure and not as a didactic requirement.

Early 90s - I continued my studies in visual art specialising in social photography. In parallel to other activities, I continued oil painting and attributed significant importance to the colours I chose to represent the expression of my emotions.

The beginning of the third millennium was characterised by numerous life events and the presence of various symbols increased in my paintings.

Oil colour is now more abundant in my paintings and the use of the impasto technique, to create thick texture and consistency, is a constant feature of my self-expression.

More recently I have rediscovered a passion for watercolour painting, which allows me to show my 'soft side' of symbolism as I experiment with blending to highlight places and moments of special significance.
